Chicago Bears Ladies x Lyft Up x Social Change

Thank you ❤️ For thanksgiving, we came together with @angelera@jennifermleno@mjnj14 from the Chicago Bears Ladies and the #lyftup initiative with @dariennepage@lamarcbrown to hold a Food and PPE giveaway on the border of West Englewood and Chicago Lawn. These areas continue to be devastated by much loss and tragedy due to the pandemic. With test positivity rates of 15.6% and 24.1%, and 6 deaths collectively, the need to facilitate access to these communities was of immediate urgency.

We want to acknowledge the heart and labor of ALL our community partners and volunteers who offered these communities the opportunity to access food and PPE, safely.

While in line, every community member was given a face shield thanks to @theyard_il@operation_face_shield. Masks were donated anonymously by neighbors across Chicago. This is just one example of how all our community partners understood that reminding everyone to adhere to socially-distanced practices was of the utmost importance.

While many Black and Brown communities continue to also experience food insecurity, we experienced the power of community coming together to fill the void that is left by food deserts.

In sum, we are grateful to our community partners and volunteers who made the Thanksgiving Giveaway such a beautiful, CDC-compliant and safe experience.

We thank every person who contributed to this giveaway ❤️
